Last few things

We went to the doctor on Monday and he said that I am dialated 1 cm and my cervix is thinning (sorry if this is TMI but some people want to know). He has dropped, he is head down and ready to go. He said I probably will not make it till the 30th but I'm still here and waiting so we shall see! I have marked a lot of things off of my list of things to do but still keep adding to it! I got my hair colored, eye brows waxed and a pedicure so I am starting to look human again. I picked up a lot of my bare necessities for the baby last weekend, washed and put away a lot of clothes. He has more clothes then me I think! I am going to Huntsville Saturday to do some shopping for me! I need make-up, some looser fitting summer clothes (since I doubt I will fit in my stuff from last summer) and undergarments for nursing and a few other items. I also still have Thank You Notes to write from my shower last weekend. So I am wrapping things up but I think there will always be things left undone. Oh well!

Luke's Room

So here are the 1st few pictures of the nursery. If you are wondering we have 2 closets in the room so Adam and dad built a changing table in the one you can see in the picture. The rest is just extra shelving. I will post more once I finish a few things up. I feel like there are still several small things that need to get done.

Full Moon

I have been convinced that he was going to come early but nothing so far! We are going to the doctor every Monday until he arrives. He said that this next Monday he will check the position of the baby and to see if I am dialated. I am 37 weeks now and have 22 days until my due date. The full moon in on the 28th of April and I have heard that a lot of babies are born the day of the full moon or the day following a full moon so we will see. Maybe if he doesn't come real early he will come on the 28th or 29th. We'll see!

Swell!

To the say the least my feet and ankles are swelling pretty bad these days! Nothing seems to help. Propping doesn't help, I'm trying to watch my salt and drink lots of water and nothing seems to do the trick. I guess I just have to wait it out. I know I need a pedicure! It is on my list of things to do this weekend!

Long overdue update

Well it has been a whirl wind to say the least. Here is my update: covered 2 jobs for months of February and March, I finally got registered at Babies R' Us and all the cutesie store in town, Adam moved offices, Adam cleaned, painted and repaired the new office, had 3 baby showers that were awesome, 1 more to go, I wrote thank you notes, I am still writing thank you notes for all of the sweet gifts we have received, mom and dad came for a visit, Adam and dad built Luke two awesome closets that I am secretly jealous of, I found curtains for Luke's room, Adam's been working to refinish a desk to go into Luke's room he only lacks a few coats of varnish, mom and Margaret came to visit, I found out I have gestational diabetes, I was put on a VERY low carb diet and told to check my blood sugar 4 times a day, I had a very bad week dealing with my new "diet", the living room and more importantly Luke's room is finished being painted and my feet are swelling!

Now my list of things to get done hopefully before he arrives:
We start our birthing classes on Monday the 5th I know we are pushing it, prepare my bag (and Adam's) for the hospital, clean the carpets in our room and the baby's room, put the baby's room together, get things with work squared away, go online to order those items I will be needing very soon, after my last shower on the 11th I will need to go to buy any of the items I still need, there is more but my mind has gone blank! I am officially overloaded and starting to get nervous about the lack of control I have over this whole process. For a control freak it is quite unnerving! Too bad he will not be checking my schedule when he decides it is time! I know everything will work out but I am still getting nervous about it all.

I will post pictures of the nursery once I get it put together; hopefully by the end of the weekend.

Pictures of baby Luke

We had the 4D Ultrasound done today. It was really neat and they took over 64 or so pictures. He moved around a lot but he had his legs and hands up around his face almost the whole time. FYI the dark shadows on his head are not hair. I thought so at first but the tech did a 2D for a little while that did show he does have some hair on his head but it is hard tell how much so We'll see!

Nursery Ideas

Well nesting is an unstatement. I feel like we have sooo much to do to get ready for the baby and so little time! Anywho ... I have been trying to figure out how to do the baby's room and this is what I have come up with. I want to do something a little different then the usual nursery themes and decor. So here is what I have so far. It is mostly pieces but think it will come together well. The crib is well the crib, the dresser to match is on it's way. I am going to have Adam build a changing station in the smaller of the two closest and will take the bifold doors off replacing them with a drape that pulls to one side. The material I think I am going to use for it is the cowboy pattern you can see in the pictures. I will also use the fabric for accent pillows and such. The curtains I am going to do in a rough tan or brown material, still looking to decide on exactly what I want. The chair in the picture is being reupholstered with the cowhide in the pictures. It is more for decoration; the glider will probably stay in our bedroom at least for now. I will also use the cowhide for pillows or something b/c it is so cool looking and expensive even for a remnant. I will probably paint the walls a slate/blue gray like the one on the cowboy fabric. It is a work in progress for now.

24 Weeks and Counting

Well we went to the doctor yesterday for my monthly appointment and everything is going good. I have gained 6 pounds in 4 weeks which is more then last month but I partly blame Christmas and New Years for the extra 2 lbs. I am still within the 1 to 2 lbs a week so I guess it is not too bad. We did not get to have a sonogram this time but did get to hear the baby's heart beat and which was beating at about 144 beats per minute. So all and all there is no major developments. I found the crib I wanted on sale so I have ordered it. It is probably actually ready for pick-up but I need to call and find out. Adam still needs to get some of our furniture taken to storage at his mom's before we will have room for it. I am starting to feel overwhelmed as showers start to get scheduled, furniture is getting ordered it feels like my list of things to get done is growing longer and longer each day! Oh and I found out today my car needs $1,500 worth of work done to it. YAH! That includes $500 to replace my spark plugs and wires because you have to take the top of the engine off to get down to them:) Not thrilled but I guess if I am going to keep my car a while it has to be done. I know now why people like trading cars every 3 or 4 years!
